Kabale Man Hacks Family Members to Death

Police in Kabale are hunting for a 40-year-old man who is accused of hacking to death his step mother, brother and injuring two other family members.

Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police Spokesman identifies the suspect as John Mugisha, a resident of Nyakahita in Kabale.

Last evening at around 7.30pm, Mugisha allegedly attacked Stevenson Twebaze his step brother in Kaharo sub county and chopped him to death.

Maate says that Mugisha then proceeded to Nyamugoma cell and hacked to death one Birungi Jacinta, his 55year old step mother and also injured Tukamushaba Annah his step sister and Turyasingura Willy, all residents of Nyamugoma cell in Kaharo sub county.

Police believe the act stemmed from a recent family fight in which Nugisha was accused of maliciously damaging the Nyamugoma Catholic Church fence.

“He had also threatened to kill four family members and later commit suicide,” Maate says.

” Police was notified and immediately responded to the scene, took the injured to the hospital and the deceased for postmortem.”

Meanwhile, the hunt is still on for the suspect who is said to be in hiding.
