Pickup and lorry drivers under the Kabale Pickup and Lorry Drivers Association operating at Esso Park, on Friday stormed the office of the Kabale Municipality mayor, protesting the lack of a toilet at the park.
The drivers say they have urged multiple times the municipal council authorities to construct them a toilet, with no response.
They also accuse the park tenders for harassing and over taxing them.
The drivers led by their association chairperson Michael Twinamatsiko wonders why they are being forced to pay park tax while the municipality has refused to construct for them a toilet.
These say when they need to ease themselves, they have to run to their homes or visit their friends in the municipality.
The drivers wonder why council is neglecting the park yet it fetches the urban council millions of shillings in revenue
Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha, the Kabale Municipality Mayor, told the protesters that the municipality is in the process of constructing a toilet at the park to improve sanitation in the area.
Byamugisha says that he will also sit with the park tenderers so that they stop harassing and asking them much money.
