Kabale University has set aside 100 million shillings for the renovation of the Intensive Care Unit at Kabale Regional referral hospital.
Canon Johnson Baryantuma Munono, the university Secretary says the ICU renovations will include working on the floor, building a modern toilet, fencing and equipping the unit with some new equipment.
Munono says this intervention is part of Kabale University’s corporate social responsibility of giving back to the people.
He added that university has all along been working with the hospital and that recently the two signed an MoU for their medical students to be allowed to use the hospital as a study center.
Recently, when the parliamentary committee of health led by the chairperson Dr Micheal Bukena visited the hospital, they found that the facility was not prepared to take on patients of Covid19, as they even lacked an isolation center.
