Kabale Municipality has been allocated 25 billion shillings under the second phase of the Uganda Support To Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID).
Denis Obbo the public relations officer of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development revealed this during the stakeholders meeting at Kabale Municipality council hall for the evaluation of Kabale first phase of the project.
He said Kabale was among the best performing municipalities and therefore was to benefit from the second phase of the project with the funding raised from 15 billion to 25 billion shillings.
Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha the Kabale mayor says the municipality is ready for phase II having fully completed the first phase in time despite starting two years late.
Byamugisha says in the first phase several roads like Nyerere Avenue, Nyerere road, Kigongi road, Keita road Nkunda road and Bank lane were worked on.
Other roads like Rugarama, Bwankosya, Rushoroza, Bushekwire, Bugongi, Rushoroza, Nyabikoni, Crowford, Rushaki, and Rushaki byepass, Bwankosya roads will be tacked in the second phase.
Other Municipalities benefiting from USMID programme are Arua, Lira, Soroti, Moroto, Mbale, Tororo, Jinja, Entebbe, Masaka, Mbarara, Fort Portal and Hoima.
