The Principal Judge Flavian Zeija has appointed High Court judge Musa Ssekaana as the Deputy Head of the Civil Division currently housed at Tweed Towers Nakasero.
According to the appointment letter dated 1st June 2020, copied to the Chief Justice Hon Bart Katureebe, Secretary to the Judiciary Mr Pilus Bigirimana and Justice Michael Elubu, the appointment takes immediate effect.
“By copy of this letter, Hon Justice Michael Elubu is requested to make a comprehensive hand over of the roles of Deputy head of Civil Division.”
In February 2018, President Museveni appointed Ssekaana as a High court judge alongside several others.
Ssekaana during this lockdown period has handled a number of cases and awarded costs to those whose rights were infringed during arrest.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B) from Makerere University and a Masters in Law (LL.M Legislative Drafting) from the University of The West Indies-Cave Hill campus Barbados and a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Center.
