Uganda’s long distance Runner Stella Chesang has won a gold medal in the ongoing 2018 Commonwealth games in Gold Coast.
Chesang came fastest in the women’s 10,000m clocking a time of 31:45.30.
Uganda also took bronze in the same race after Mercyline Chelangat came in third position while Juliet Chekwel another Ugandan finished seventh.
Kenya’s Stacy Ndiwa took silver.
This is the second gold for Uganda at the ongoing games after Cheptegei bagged on Sunday morning in the 5000 metres.
Stella Chesang (born 1 December 1996) started as mountain and cross-country runner before changing to flat running.
Chesang has a Bachelor’s degree in sports science from Kyambogo University and currently works with the Uganda Police Force.
She won the World Mountain Running Championships in 2015 and the Ugandan Cross Country Championships in 2016.
