Police in Kyankwanzi is hunting for a man only identified as Emmanuel, who went on rampage and killed three children and injured another eight.
The grisly attack happened this morning in Butemba Town Council in Kyankwanzi District.
According to Crime Investigations Department(CID), a team of police officers responded to the scenes following a phone call from one of the residents.
Emmanuel, armed with a panga is said to have attacked the home of one Alfred Mushabe and indiscriminately hacked everybody that crossed his path.
Among those that he killed here was a 4-year-old boy identified as Tayebwa Joel.
He then proceeded to a workers’ shelter at a maize plantation and threatened to cut the women whom he found working at the plantation.
Unfortunately, as the women ran away, Emmanuel killed two more kids, namely Nakisindi Nora aged 3 and Ninsiima Joel aged 9 months.
As the survivors were making an alarm, the killer disappeared into the big maize plantation where police and the community were still vigorously pursuing him.
Police says Emmanuel had come to that village and hired land from one of the residents Kalfred Mushabe where he has been cultivating his maize and also staying alone in his makeshift house.
Residents of Kagarama where the incident happened says they were still puzzled because there has not been any known conflict between Emmanuel and the victims, neither do they know him to be a person living with insanity.
Meanwhile another 8 people who were badly injured by Emmanuel have been taken to Butemba health centre3, and others referred to Hoima General Hospital for treatment.
“We extended our condolences to the affected families and pledge to pursue this killer and arraign him to Court for prosecution,” said CID spokesperson ASP Charles Twine Mansio.
