Just In: Army Court Releases Col Ndahura Atwooki

Makindye General Court Martial Chairman, Lt Gen Andrew Gutti has released on bail Col Ndahura Atwooki, the former Police’s Director of Criminal Intelligence, who is charged with failure to protect war materials.

Col Atwooki was granted a Shs. 10 million non-cash bail by the army court.

Col Ndahura was arrested on 8th June 2018 in Masindi, in connection to the illegal repatriation of Rwandan refugees.

The Court Martial decided to release him after he satisfied all bail requirements, including presenting substantive sureties.

Among those that stood for him was Maj. General Apollo Kasiita, Col Francis Kashaka, Col Wilson Kaleeba and Hon Donozio Kahonda.

Court heard from the Atwooki’s bail application that he is a long serving UPDF officer who has never been convicted of any offence and that he is suffering from diabetes.

Among the bail conditions which Ndahura has to fulfill include reporting to the registrar of this court every first week of the month.

He must also not travel outside Wakiso and Kampala district without permission of the court.


Col Ndahura was one of the 26 police and military officers who were arrested for crimes allegedly committed during the during the 13-year reign of  IGP Gen Kale Kayihura.
