The Inspectorate of General Government (IG) has arrested the Secretary Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Dr Rose Nassali Lukwago and two others over charges related to mismanagement of funds.
Nassali, Dr Opio Okiror and Cuthbert Kagabo, Deputy Director AH Consulting Ltd were charged on Thursday at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala with causing financial loss and abuse of office.
Prosecutors allege Nassali and Okiror while serving as Permanent Secretary and former Commissioner Health Services at the Education Ministry in the financial year 2014/2015 “unlawfully facilitated payment of Shs 33m for the recruitment of staff by AH Consulting Ltd for a donor-sponsored project well knowing the recruitment exercise was already completed.”
The charges leveled against the trio include causing financial loss and abuse of office.
The development comes at a time of what President Museveni describes as a “war on corruption.”
State House Anti-corruption desk headed by Edith Nakalema has since arrested and prosecuted dozens of government officials over corruption.
Okiror currently serves as the Commissioner Human Resource Management at the judiciary.
