JMC Hippos Petition Fufa over 3 Clubs Using Its Players

Last season’s rock bottom placed league team in Azam Uganda Premier League, Jinja Municipal Council (JMC) Hippos has petitioned 3 top flight clubs for using her players illegally.

JMC Hippos Chief Executive Officer, George Kunja sent the petition letter to the FUFA competitions committee director.

“Counter complaint against Clubs BUL FC for fielding our contracted player Shabene Daniel, Kakande Herbert by Simba FC and Onduparaka who used Viane Ssekajugo for intriguing of FUFA regulations on status and transfer of players contrary to article 24 sub section 1 and 2,” reads the petition letter in part.

Daniel Shabene was brought on early in the second half replacing Richard Wandyaka at Kakindu Stadium as BUL FC drew goalless with new league entrants Mbarara City.

Herbert Kakande started for UPDF FC (Simba/Saints FC) as the army side lost 2-1 against the revenue collectors at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Viane Ssekajugo did not play for start nor did he come in as a substitute as Onduparaka were held at Greenlight Stadium by Proline FC in Arua.

What does Article 24 sub section 1 and 2 say?

A club or club intermediary who wants to conclude a contract with a professional player who is subject to an existing player contract shall:


(I) notify the players club and the player in writing before it begins negotiation with that player, such correspondence shall be copied to FUFA.

(II) Not conclude any contract with that player until his current has expired or will expire within 6 months.

Expected Punishment

Any club which violets the article may be banned from registering players for 2 years or pay a fine of 3000 UAS or both
