Janzi band has on Saturday 16, excited golfers at the 19th hole Singleton challenge, first round held at Entebbe golf club.
Out of the 128 golfers who participated in the challenge in a bid to secure themselves a slot in the second round, only 64 made it.
The golfers took to the course by 8 am in in the morning with fun filled action throughout the day, where the Challenge was played on a four- ball format.
Defending champions Peace Kabasweka and Sheila Kansiime, beat the pair of Edwin Tabaro and Ivan Wesonga 5/4.
Meanwhile, last season’s finalists Joseph Bagabo and Paul Kaheru were eliminated by Greg Patterson and Josef Salan in a 4/3 tight win.
Gilbert Kizza won the men’s category with 39 points while Eva Magala took over the ladies category with 33 points.
After an exhausting day on the course, the golfers were treated to yet another rousing hole experience of soothing music as it has become the Challenge’s tradition, and this time it was an experience which featured a performance by Janzi Band.
Riding on the day’s retro theme, the band sent guests back to the good old days that saw many golfers singing along in unison.
The grand prize for the winning pair this year is a fully paid golfing trip to watch the ‘OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic,’ a series which has featured some of golf’s best players, including Tiger Woods and Henrik Stenson.
There will also be business class return air tickets for the first and second runner-up pairs, as well as winners of the subsidiary events in the men’s and ladies’ categories.
Other prizes include monthly subscription packages on DStv, treats at Serena Hotel, golf accessories and HTC goodies.
