Mariam Kirumira, the wife of jailed former Buyende DPC Muhammad Kirumira this afternoon gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.
Mrs Kirumira, who witnessed the harrowing police break-in and arrest of her husband from their house three weeks ago, delivered the baby at Rubaga Hospital.
Her husband is still remanded by the Police Tribunal, where he is facing charges relating to misconduct and corruption.
At the hospital, Mrs Kirumira was visited by among others KCCA Councillor Muhammad Ssegirinya, one of the political activists that came out recently to support the family in the absence of its bread winner.
The new-born was reportedly named Kaweesi as DPC Kirumira instructed his father while he visited him in detention at the start of the month.
