Uganda’s long distance runner Jacob Kiplimo broke the National record having finished second in the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP Elite Edition Half Marathon on Sunday.
Kiplimo posted a time of 57:37 to break the National Record he previously set at the World Half Marathon in Gdynia, Poland (58:49) in October this year.
He finished second behind Kenyan Kibiwot Kandie who clocked 57:32 to break the World Record.
Rhonex Kipruto (57:49) and Alexander Mutiso (57:59) finished third and fourth respectively ousting Geoffrey Kamworor’s previous standing world record of 58:01.
Kiplimo also won the 5000m race at Ostrava in Czech Republic at 12:48.73 and also ran a world-leading 7:26.64 over 3000m, which is his fastest time since 2007.
