  • IUIU 0-0 KIU

International University of East Africa (IUIU) and Kampala International University (KIU) played to a barren draw in the University Football League on Thursday in Mbale.

On any other day it could have been all three points for IUIU as Phillip Kagwa blasted an indirect free kick over the bar before KIU’s goalkeeper Opio Moses acrobatically denied Kanyike Abdulkarim in the eleventh hour.

The first 20 minutes saw a couple of decent opportunities, with IUIU’s Ramathan Musema seeing a low shot saved and Tumwine Yusuf header deflected effort crept into the arms of Opio as the score remained goalless.

After 50 minutes, KIU’s Ayebare Fredrick passed a lovely weighted ball to Bruno Ochen who opened up his body and curled an effort towards the far corner, only for the hosts’ custodian, Tezikoma Rashid to pull out a tremendous save.

Another spectacular moment came in the 70th minute when Kagwa outmuscled his marker in the corner forward before he was brought down at the edge of the box.

Goalkeeper Opio who later got booked for time wasting tipped the resulting free kick over the bar.

IUIU keeps their good record against KIU having registered two wins and one draw in their last three engagements.
