The driver’s body was found on the roadside next to his truck at Busitema Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Customs station along Tororo–Iganga highway.
The cause of the death is yet to be established.
“It’s true and being investigated,” Health Ministry spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona told ChimpReports on Saturday night.
The Coronavirus rapid response unit was dispatched to take samples from the driver’s body for further analysis.
Uganda has previously confirmed dozens of Coronavirus cases among foreign and local truck drivers.
Currently, Uganda has a total of 685 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 199 recoveries, and no fatalities.
