Pte Alex Niwanyine, a UPDF Soldier who was badly injured in Amuru district last week has been airlifted to Mbuya Military Hospital for proper management.
Pte. Niwanyine lost his right-eye on Friday when he was attacked while enforcing the Presidential directive to end the spread of Covid-19 in Bibia, Atiak Sub-county in Amuru district.
He is a body-guard to Amuru RDC, Linda Auma and he was on duty when he was attacked
Brigadier Richard Karemire, the Defense spokesperson in a statement confirmed the development, saying that Pte Niwanyine has been evacuated to Mbuya Military Hospital so that he can receive further medical attention.
Brig Karemire also warned that People should stop such acts including pelting security forces with stones adding that the UPDF is still committed to keep the Country and people safe.
The Minister for Defense and Veterans affairs, Hon. Col Charles Engola on Monday accompanied by the 4th division commander Brig. Bonny Bamwisaki also visited the injured Soldier on Monday from his Hospital Bed in Gulu regional referral Hospital.
