A team from the Ministry of Health led by the state minister for Primary Health Care Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu is conducting support supervision in West Nile region.
The supervision commenced yesterday December 7 and will carry on for 5 days.
According to Dr Kaducu, they are doing quarterly supervision work in the Western region including all the districts in West Nile
“The main purpose is to visit the facilities and to go through the checklists that we have for monitoring and supervision of facilities. The overall goal is to improve service delivery. We want quality service delivery for the people of Uganda and this is in line with the vision of the President of Uganda; to ensure all sub counties have got Health Centres IIIs which are functional; ensure that HC IIIs provide quality maternal, child health services,” Kaducu said.
She added that the exercise is intended to reinforce strategies geared towards maternal and child health; saving mothers from dying, saving the babies and the people of Uganda as a whole.
“In line with this supervision, we look at the staffing, equipment at the facilities, output and everything in a holistic manner. Where there are gaps, we take the entire 6 block of World Health Organisation that is recommended in support supervision,” she noted.
She stated that at the end of the supervision, feedback is given to the stakeholders and solutions to the challenges are planned to fill the gaps.
Kaducu also met with the health workers at Moyo Mission Health Centre IV.
Other team members include; Dr Susan Nabandda Commissioner Laboratory, Mr Tom Aliti Commissioner Partnerships, the Commissioner Clinical Dr Jackson Amone, Dr Jessica Nsugwa Sabiiti – Commissioner Reproductive Health, Mr John Ssengendo- URMCHIP/ World bank coordinator and Dr Jimmy Opigo, the assistant Commissioner in charge of the National Malaria Control Program.
