UPDF’s Commander Land Forces Lt Gen Peter Elwelu on Monday rubbished media reports that he had been admitted in the mental health facility.
Gen Elweru was a target of fake news late last week, with initial reports claiming had died and later that he had run mad.
In a brief social media video, the general appearing fully dressed in uniform, attributed these reports to people with sinister incentives.
“This world is so complicated,” Elwelu said.
“I don’t think that the writer did this out of ignorance; I think they have an objective and a mission. But I wish them all the best, otherwise, what can I say? They said I died but here I am. May be I resurrected.”
Earlier, the army dismissed the media reports as untrue, calling on the public to disregard them.
“There is absolutely no iota of truth in the mentioned article. The contents should therefore be ignored and not cause any anxiety,” said UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire.
