Ministry of Internal Affairs has revealed that the borders will remain open for Ugandans who are eligible but currently out of the country to come in and vote.
The presidential and parliamentary elections will take place on Thursday 14, January.
Speaking to the press today at Uganda Police Force (UPF) headquarters in Naguru, Jacob Siminyu the ministry spokesman said Ugandans who are fully registered and wish to vote will have to follow the Covid19 travel Standard Operating Procedures before being allowed in the country.
On the other hand, Siminyu called upon foreigners who are rushing out of the country in fear of election violence to stay calm.
“We are assured of safety by the security operatives that the elections will be safe. So I call upon foreign residents to remain calm because nothing is going to happen to you,” Siminyu added
