Reigning FUFA female footballer of the year Fazilah Ikwaput continues to shine in her new club in Kazakhstan.
The forward did not take time to impress at Kazakhstan champions BIIK-Kazygurt as they kicked off the 2018/19 UEFA Women’s Champions League season.
In the qualifying game played on Tuesday against Greek side Akadimia Elpides Karditsas, Ikwaput came off the bench to score the winner as her team staged a comeback to win 2-1.
Akadimia took the lead in the 7th minute through Ariza but BIIK- Kazygurt levelled the scores eleven minutes later through Gabelia.
Ikwaput was introduced in the 66th minute and four minutes later, she had registered her name on the score sheet to guide her new club to victory.
BIIK-Kazygurt is in a qualifying group of four teams where the top two teams will advance to the main competition.
The other teams in the group include Rigas FC from Latvia, USC Landhaus from Austria and Elpides Kardtstas from Greece.
Ikwaput’s side will return to action on 10th August against USC Landhaus.
Before joining BIIK-Kazygurt, Ikwaput played for Olila Women in Soroti and Kerala Blasters in India.
