Ibanda Youths Demand Ban on Gambling Machines

Youthful residents of Ibanda in western Uganda yesterday stormed the office of the Resident District Commissioner demanding a shutdown of all gambling machines in the municipality.

The youths claimed the machines had ripped them off and left them with nothing.

Some of the complaints were students who lost their school fees money to the machines and others parents who said they had no means of sending their children back to school.

The protesters claim the machines which are proliferating in the municipality are manipulated to rip off the gamblers.

Speaking at the RDC’s office, price protesters Like Nuwagaba, viagra Abel Kakuru and others attributed the growing number of robberies and theft to the cheating machines.

“They have pushed us to the limit. That is why some people have resorted to crime, viagra because they have nothing else to do,” they said.

The youths thus asked the RDC Mr Eliasto Akatuhebwa to order an immediate closure of all gambling houses with these machines and to have them banished from the municipality.

In response however, the RDC advised the youths to organize themselves and put their request to him in writing, and that way he would call a security meeting to find way forward.
