Police in Ibanda district in Western Uganda is investigating a murder case in which a man killed his grandmother and later fled.
According to Police, an old woman identified as Clemencia Kadidi 70 years, who was a resident of Rwenge cell, was killed by her adopted grandson Joseph Asiimwe, 21, over land wrangles.
The bizarre part of this incident is that the deceased was beheaded by the suspect who also cut some flesh from the body, ate it and drank some blood too.
“He also coerced his wife to drink the blood and there after went into hiding,” said police spokesperson Fred Enanga.
Enanga revealed that so far, police have arrested the wife Azairwe Jackline, who is in detention at Ibanda police station as they track for the prime suspect Asiimwe.
Police maintains that there is a spike in crimes related to domestic wrangles arising from land disputes but community liaison officers and district joint security task forces are working to sensitize the communities against the vice.
The public has been repeatedly advised to report all matters pertaining land conflicts to authorities so that they can be resolved amicably.
