America’s soul and R&B singer Mýa Marie Harrison has confessed her love for Eddy Kenzo’s music.
It is rare to find top notch singers especially American nationals embracing, rather falling in love with Uganda’s kind of music as they consider theirs the best and nothing else comes close to it.
Eddy Kenzo must really be a lucky artist to get such complements from the singer whom we can say has made it career wise and in life generally as she clearly mentioned Eddy Kenzo’s name among some of the few artists in Uganda she knows.
When asked about Ugandan artists by ChimpReports’s Benjamen Emuk during an online press briefing at the launch of the ‘Johnnie Walker All Music Safari,’ Mya was quick to shout out Eddy Kenzo’s name.
“I know Eddy Kenzo, Irene and David Lutaalo,” she said.
The singer also revealed that she will be willing to collaborate with any of those artists when they are ready to. ”I will do a project with any of them when they are ready for it.”
Mya said that she is able to keep her large fan base due to the fact that she is always having many music projects that please them.
The singer who will be performing in Uganda for the first time come November 30 at Lugogo Cricket Oval, said she has loved working on massive crowds in Africa as she has registered several successful shows in Tanzania, Angola, Egypt, Ethiopia and the recent one being in Lagos, Nigeria.
Being that person who is in love with nature, Mya says she would love to ask the tourism board to take her around Uganda’s beautiful places, preferably the National game parks so that she will be able to see different animals and birds among others.
The concert which promises different bits of unique genres of music for everyone ranging from RnB, Jazz and Reggae sessions, Funk and Hip Hop plus a touch of the Congolais Bros sprinkled onto the mix and many more, will see Mya sharing the stage with Ugandan artists including Myko Ouma, Joseph Sax, Black Roots Unlimited, Kenneth Mugabi and Generale Czar’bu among others.
