Uganda’s legendary Afro beat singer Joseph Mayanja better known by his stage name Dr. Jose Chameleone has revealed that he has not yet considered stepping out of the Kampala Lord Mayor ship position come 2021.
In an interview with Chimpreports recently, Chameleone said that he has not stepped down, citing that if the city discovers someone else who is more hard-working than him who can render services to the people, then the better.
“Why should I step down? Is there anyone who pushed me to show my interest?” He asked.
All that was triggered by his recent Facebook post that left multiple folks asking many questions on whether he will contest for the position in 2021 elections or not.
Chameleone said that he is not scared of the race and was just sharing his insight.
“Am not scared.I was just sharing my insight. Many people in this country don’t believe in themselves and as so they also have no confidence in others.
Those who are against musicians having joined politics, we are mature people who can lead especially that our leaders have not done enough in the positions we voted them in.”
He also added that what he meant in his social media post is that people should stop undermining themselves because there are very many well qualified persons who can lead this country, but are ceased and weakened.
Commenting on Irene Ntale’s latest pronouncement to stand for mayorship position, Chameleon said “this country belongs to us all, so it’s a sign of democracy.”
