The actor who has been in the country for the past one week told Journalists at Protea Hotel in Entebbe how he fell in love with Ugandan people.
“I am going back today to Atlantic Georgia but, I have fallen in love with the people and food,” he said.
“The energy that they [Ugandan people] have placed on embracing the people of south Sudan is the best,” He said.
The actor flew into the country “help the refugees forced to flee their homes and the brutal conflict of the South Sudan.”
On why he had a long stay, Daniel says: “I have become older and wiser, that I learnt that where you were born impacts you.
“I see that some people like refugees do not have what we necessarily have like sanitation and clean water so I was here to create conversation about the importance of refugees having this,” he added.
Daniel, who is also an ambassador for Oxfam in America, revealed that he fell in love with Ugandan food.
“I loved the small yellow bananas; I wish I could carry some to my country. I also won’t forget the brown food I eat…”Kalo” (Millet floor) it was unique and different.” He concluded.
During his stay the actor visited two refugee settlements ; Bidibidi and Mvepi which house 273,000 and 125,000 refugees respectively.
