The Speaker of Parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga has decried corrupt officials within Government and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) who blackmail whoever tends to condemn their acts.
While meeting NRM District leaders at Speke Resort Munyonyo on Sunday, Kadaga pointed out that many of these characters have gone the extra mile to portray her as a person who doesn’t love her party.
“I am a committed member of the party who doesn’t like corruption, I speak against it because the party has no agenda for corruption,” Kadaga said.
She noted that the main reason why she always fights corruption is to ensure that people get better services when government funds are used for their intended purposes.
“If you are corrupt, it’s you as an individual and I will continue blasting you as an individual,” she added.
When asked to step down of the race because of old age, Kadaga said that it’s a contradiction for NRM members who endorsed President Museveni, a person above 75 years, and then oppose a 60-year-old individual.
At this meeting, the NRM district chairpersons unanimously endorsed her for the position of 2nd Vice-Chairperson (Female) at the Central Executive Committee (CEC).
The majority of these applauded her for her tremendous efforts in uplifting the girl child while others highlighted the need to have more female members on the CEC.
NRM will hold its delegates’ conference between 7th and 8th August in observance of COVID-19 Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs).
