How To Stay Stay Forever Young

There’s no two ways regarding ageing. It is natural. It is simply a one-way street. All animals age and so do plants. Every day, every night, we age. This is perhaps more painful for most ladies. They abhor ageing.

Perhaps this explains why it is considered rude to ask a lady for her age. That said, there’s a rapidly growing phenomenon of reversing or slowing down ageing through lifestyle options. Then there are also cosmetic options.

Without dwelling on the scientific explanations of the causes of ageing, Avane Cosmetic Clinique & Medispa’s Dr. Chirag Kotecha who is a Medical Doctor with advanced experience in Cosmetics & Aesthetics breaks them down for us literally.

First is Glycation which refers to too much sugar or what happens when the sugar mixes with proteins and fats to form molecules that promote aging.

Second is Inflammation which is our immunity’s fight against foreign invaders but gradually targets healthy cells & tissues for attack.

Third is Exposure to Free radicals that are even present in the air we breathe. These attack our cells, damage our DNA & accelerate ageing.

Then there is most definitely Stress which is a major ageing causal factor.

A few of us have been considered as ageing slowly, not ageing or even growing younger. A vivid example is the famous hit-maker Pharrell Williams whom people even go as far as referring to as a ‘vampire’ because over the years, his appearance seems not to change.

Dr. Chirag Kotecha went ahead to give us some Lifestyle remedies that slow down or counter ageing.

He stresses that one should have enough sleep and he recommends at least 8 hours of sleep daily. “The theory of Beauty sleep is actually a reality” he adds.

He also pointed out Stress Management saying that too much stress accelerates ageing so it crucial to limit or avoid exposure to stress.

Another remedy he gives is hydration. Dr. Kotecha explains that drinking lots of water keeps every system in the body functioning optimally and keeps the skin fresh & bright. He recommends 2-3 liters of water a day but advises against caffeinated beverages and alcohol.

As cliché as it sounds, exercising is a major lifestyle habit that can keep you young. “It reduces inflammation, keeps away chronic diseases, relieves stress, counters cognitive decline & improves the skin. Never underestimate working up a sweat” adds Dr. Kotecha.

He also recommended some supplements that the body needs for optimal functionality like those rich in Omega 3 which boosts the immune system, improves cardiovascular & vision health; strengthens skin, and enhances memory skills among others.

There’s also Glutathione which is a master detoxifier, anti-oxidant & strengthens the immune system. Others include: CoQ10 that is also an anti-oxidant, improves cellular health, energy levels among others and Alpha Lipoic Acid known for sugar-balancing, fighting off inflammation & protecting the skin.

Dr. Kotecha further noted that the main mistake people make is trying tackle ageing really late yet the right solutions are available to them right from their youth. “It is easier to preserve than to reverse” he said.

On the side of Cosmetology, he noted that there are various anti-ageing treatments that people can use including Botox which contains purified bacteria that freeze muscles thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles & fine lines caused by facial expressions, Dermal fillers that add fullness to areas that have thinned due to aging among others.

While he termed these as minimally invasive, he cautioned on getting these done by professionals and accredited service providers.

He recommended Avane Cosmetic Clinic & Medispa where he can personally administer the procedure.
