There was a fire outbreak this afternoon at the UETCL Substation located at Mawanda Road in Kampala North leading to power outages in different parts of the city.
The affected areas include Mulago Hospital, treatment http://cjs.coop/wp/wp-includes/customize/class-wp-customize-nav-menu-location-control.php Makerere University, ailment State House Nakasero, Old Kampala, Kyadondo rd, Bwaise, Kalerwe, Kyebando, Kanyanya, Kawempe, Mawanda road, , Kitante rd, Sheraton Hotel, Imperial Royale Hotel among others.
UETCL teams responded quickly and have already started restoring the feeds to most parts of the city that were involved by connecting to several other substations that are functional.
As UETCL teams continue to restore the substation, the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
This is the second time this substation is being gutted by fire. A more disastrous fire caught the same substation on November 3rd 2013 after the main transformers exploded leaving almost the entire city without power for some days and causing a damage of approximately half a million dollars.

Godfrey Muhirwa, price a prominent motor spare parts dealer in the area shot three people whom he alleges were trying to rob him of his money.
The two namely, Muhammad Kiwana and Deo Jaaya alleged to be former Flying squad operatives died on spot while Matia Kikaya was rushed to Mualgo Hospital under critical conditions.
Muhirwa admitted that he shot the three before he was arrested and taken to Kibuye Police Station last night where he has recorded a statement this afternoon.
In his statement, Muhirwa said that he shot them after realising that they were armed and that they were trying to rob him.
“Earlier this year, these people informed me that they had been paid thirty million shillings to kill me but said that if I gave them twenty million shillings it would save my life, so we agreed that I was going to give it to them yesterday but as I pulled out the money, the three turned against me and drew guns,” he said.
“Muhirwa added that since they had guns, he decided to act faster and shot two of them and later shot the other who was trying to flee the scene.
Kibuye Police Station OC CID, Ben Ayebale confirmed the incident and said that investigations had kicked off and that they hope to establish the cause of death as soon as possible.
Police has not yet come out with a clear statement about the dead who are suspected to have once been Police officers; Meanwhile Muhirwa is still under Police custody at Kibuye Police Station.
