Dozens of hosted buyers from within and outside Africa have Tuesday arrived in the country, ahead of the 5th Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo.
The expo is slated for next week from 4th to 6th March 2020 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
A total of 57 hosted buyers, that is, tour operators, travel agents, bloggers and influencers, were invited and confirmed attendance at the annual event.
These jetted in from South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria Rwanda, Zanzibar, Botswana, Tanzania, Malawi and Zimbabwe, as well as Thailand, Germany Russia, Malyasia, the Philippines, India, USA and Italy.
On top of these, another group of 10 travel journalists from Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, India Belgium and USA also arrived today and were hosted to a cocktail by the POATE organizers, Uganda Tourism Board (UTB)
According to the Board CEO Mrs Lilly Ajarova, the hosted buyers will be taken on a 5-day trip around the country to see Uganda’s tourism potential.
“They’ll be back on February 3rd just in time for the commencement of the exhibition.
A number of exhibiters are expected at the tourism expo, from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, and will include hoteliers, tour operators, travel agents, airlines, and hand craft maker who will be showcasing and selling their products.
“We have encouraged our exhibiters to come with Valentine’s Day and Easter packages as well,” Ajarova said.
Some of the activities lined up at the expo include Business to Business meetings during the first two days, and later Business to customer meetings and interaction, on the 6th when the exhibition will be open for the public.
There will also be seminar sessions in which local and international experts will be sharing knowledge on the sector.
