High Voltage Power Line Electrocutes Breakdown Operator in Nabbingo

A high electricity power line carrying 132k voltage has electrocuted a man in Tega, Nabbingo along Masaka road in an accident that shocked residents.

This accident was reported at Kyengera Town Council police station in Wakiso district at around 11 am on Friday.

Upon receiving the distress call, police rushed to the scene and it was established that a one Ssemuju Yusuf Kikolo, 35, a breakdown service operator in Nateete and also resident of the same area, had been electrocuted to death.

Investigations established that the deceased had gone to Tega to erect a water tank stand using his vehicle which has a crane.

“In the process, the stand touched the 132k voltage line connecting power from Mutundwe to Kabulasoke. The victim, who was operating the vehicle registration number UAK 673C, was electrocuted to death,” said police.

In the accident, one other person survived with minor injuries (turn boy).

The body of the deceased has been conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for post moterm.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire has said that they have informed Umeme and UEDCL who are working on safely removing the motor vehicle from the scene.
