High Court Insists on Hanging 48 year Old Man

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council has announced the day the Muslim community in the country will join the rest of their colleagues in faith in the world to observe the Arafat Day.

Arafat Day is the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and the day after is the first day of the major Islamic Holiday of Eid ul-Adha.

The Day falls on the 9th day of Dhul Hijja of the lunar Islamic Calendar.

This happens to be approximately 70 days after the end of the month of Ramadan.

At dawn of this day, order sick Muslim pilgrims will make their way from Mina to a nearby hillside and plain called Mount Arafat and the Plain of Arafah.

It was from this site that Muhammad gave his famous Farewell Sermon in his final year of life.

The USMC through the Director of Sharia Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Kakungulu released a statement on Wednesday saying Arafat Day will be observed on Wednesday, September 23.

The same statement added that Eid Al Adhuha will be celebrated on Thursday 24th September 2015.


Sheikh Kakungulu stressed the importance of sacrificing animals and urged all Muslims in Uganda to purchase or identify animals to be slaughtered in time so that they do not miss out on the rewards from Allah.

USMC also noted that the national celebrations will be at their headquarters at Old Kampala.

“The National Eid prayers will be held here at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala. Sheikh Kakungulu wishes all Muslims a happy Eid Al Adhuha.”

The Saudi Arabia moon sighting committee on Sunday night announced that date for Arafat is indeed going be on 23rd September 2015.

Though September 22 was earlier fixed for the Yaomul Arafat (Arafat Day) and September 23 for the Eid-il-Adha (Day of Sacrifice) a notice on Sunday night by the Saudi Arabia Judiciary said the expected moon of the Month of Dhul-Hijja 1435 was not sighted that night, hence the month of Dhul-Qadha will be counted to be 30.

It also meant that the month of Dhul-Hijja commenced on Tuesday 15 September 2015.

The Saudi Arabian Supreme Court is the sole body responsible for the declaring of all Islamic special days.
The High Court in Kampala has confirmed a death sentence handed down to a man who murdered his 22 year old wife in October 2001.

Justice Joseph Murangira ruled that 48 year old Majidu Kiiza should be hanged for betraying his in-laws’ trust and depriving his 4 months old baby of his motherly love.

Prosecution in 2004 adduced evidence to the effect that Kiiza met Irene Katooko at his parent’s home in Rukungiri district as she had deserted her marital home due to severe beatings and mistreatment from her estranged husband.

He  cut  her body into  pieces and left her dead besides her baby whom she was breastfeeding and was arrested after one month when residents had mounted a search.

Justice Faith Mwhondha then sentenced him to death. However, viagra 100mg Kiiza who has so far spent 13 years on the death row  had come back to the High court to plead for mercy before a judge so that his death sentence could be reduced.

However, price Justice Murangira said he was not persuaded with Kiiza’s pleas of remorsefulness and he also condemned him to suffer death.
