Ministry of Health officials led by Hon Jane Ruth Aceng and Hon Chris Baryomunsi are in Kigezi Region inspecting health facilities.
The aim of the inspection is to inform discussions of the key problems in health service delivery and come up with solutions.
“We started with Kanungu District to conduct support supervision of health facilities and have an insight of how they are doing, know the problems they are facing and we can solve them” the minister said.
The team visited a number of facilities in Kanungu District including Kambugu hospital, Rugyeyo Community Hospital, Kinaba Health Center II, Kanungu HC IV.
“I must say I’m truly amazed by the zeal and attitude of the health workers in the district. Am truly amazed by the cleanliness of the facility and the vigor of the health workers. Some conducts an average of 106 deliveries per month” Hon Aceng revealed.
“I interacted with the communities, listened to them and I felt their pain. The district has a difficult terrain and the health facilities are far apart. Planning for these districts has to be different unlike others.”
The Ministry of Health is planning to ensure that every sub country in every district across Uganda has at least a fully functional well equipped health center 3 with maternity wards and a general ward.
