Head Teacher Interdicted Over Shs3 Million Fraud

The Head Teacher of Kemihoko Primary School in Ishongorero Town Council has been suspended over allegations of embezzling UPE and development funds.

Mr Henry Turinaawe is accused of embezzling Shs3 million. The money is missing from school Bank account. He reportedly forged the signatures and withdrew the money from the school account in Centenary Bank.

The District Education Officer Mr Gaudius Ahimbisibwe confirmed that Mr. Turinaawe has been interdicted to pave way for investigations. He warned head teachers of UPE schools against misusing government and parents’ funds.

Early this year, six primary school head teachers in Agago District were interdicted on allegations of absenteeism, negligence of duty and misuse of school funds.

The Agago District Secretary for Education and LC5 Councilor for Lamiyi Sub-county, Mr Cosmas Okidi, identified the affected head teachers as Mr Kasiano Obwor of Atenge Primary School, Mr David Oyaro of Ngora Primary School, Charles Omor of Lapirin Primary School and Mr Alfred Koco of Kazikazi PS.

Others are Mr Justine Ojok, the Head Teacher of Ladigo Primary School, and John Nyeko of Lamit-Kweyo Primary School.

Mityana District authorities early this year also interdicted seven primary school head teachers over alleged drunkenness and laziness. Kampala Capital City Authority also interdicted three primary head teachers over allegations of office abuse and misappropriation of funds.
