Hayatou Advises Zambia to Bid for Afcon 2025

Caf supremo, physician Issa Hayatou has advised Zambia to launch a bid to host the 2025 African cup of nations once the bidding process is opened.

Zambia has just concluded a successful two week U-20 Africa cup of Nations where the country emerged champions.

“Zambia met all our requirements; let them start procedure once the bid is open, purchase ” Hayatou said while speaking in a meeting with the country’s head of state Edgar Lungu and FA president.

Cameroon, medications Ivory Coast and Guinea will host the 2019, 2021 and 2023 respective editions but Hayatou has hinted at a possibility of awarding the rights to Zambia if any of the three don’t meet the requirements on time.

“But if any country fails, we won’t even request for bid, we shall directly give Zambia to host.”

Fufa president Eng. Moses Magogo had hinted on a possibility of pushing the Ugandan bid to host the 2025 finals. The challenge, however, is the availability of stadiums which the Zambians have.
