Pepsi University Football League | Match day 2
Bugema University 4-0 Gulu University
An Isaac Musiima hat-trick and Taira Sendi lone strike was enough to guide Bugema University to a 4-0 marauding win over Gulu University in the University Football League match day 2.
Bugema University, who had won their first game 2-1 against Muni University, fully deserved the victory against a blunt Gulu side on a sunny Thursday afternoon.
Gulu also came into this match unbeaten after firing blanks against Nkumba University in their opening fixture.
Bugema would have scored more than four had Musiimenta Dassy converted from the spot in the sixth minute.
Kakooza Ivan had brought down Mulumba Fred in box leaving referee, Kavuma Vicent with no choice but to award a spot kick.
Four minutes after, goalkeeper Opolot turned villain and made a costly blunder when he failed to contain Musiima’s shot, letting the ball go through his legs for the opener.
Sendi went ahead to double his side’s lead, twelve minutes into the game, when he scored from a corner, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.
Musiima again proved electric on the day as he completed his brace with a clinical finishing inside the area.
Kasajja Lucky applied the press half way through the first half, won the ball off Opoka Allan and set up Musiima who made no mistake and fired the ball into the back of the net.
Gulu’s first attempt came on the half hour mark when Opolot broke down on the left and switched to Odur whose 20-yard effort was stopped by Bugema’s goalkeeper, Sula Kibalama.
With 15 minutes to the play, Musiima completed his hat-trick which was the first for the season, off a well taken free kick that left custodian, Opio helpless.
Musiima who had previously scored the winner against Nkumba University, now goes onto four goals, topping the scoring chats.
Bugema University propels to six points on top as Gulu University descended to the 3rd position with only one point.
