Vipers Sports Club young centre back Halid Lwaliwa harbors hopes that his performance in the just ended season will help him win the Uganda Premier League best defender of the year.
Halid was nominated alongside Joseph Ochaya and Musa Walangarira for the best defender award.
He is also among the three shortlisted for the young player of the season award together with Soana FC Musa Esenu and former Sadolin paints keeper Mathias Muwanga.

The youngster says his aim is to don the national team colors.
“I’m always working harder to become better and better. I also have dreams of playing abroad and also donning the national team colours”
Lwaliwa credits his coaches at Vipers and St Marys Kitende who nurtured him and gradually promoted to the first team last year
“I believe the coaches did a lot to guide me. It was my first time playing in the UPL but my coaches always pushed me to work harder.”
The UPL awards will be held at the Serena hotel in Kampala on Friday 12th August.
