Gunshots rocked Makerere University on Tuesday night as police moved into Lumumba Hall to arrest suspected ring leaders of ongoing violent protests at the campus.
ChimpReports understands that Makerere Guild on Tuesday attempted to oust the students’ President Gerald Bala Bwiruka on grounds of incompetence.
The situation which comes high on the heels of a violent strike over the tuition payment policy has pushed the University to the brink.
Police maintain heavy presence at Makerere.
Police officials said several students are being held as part of investigations into acts of violence.
