Gulu: Four Critically Injured in Violent Land Dispute

Four people were critically injured after they were attacked and injured over a land conflict.

The four are Walter Okello 21, Bicentina Adong 65, Charles Okot, 30 and Bosco Okot 30.

All are residents of Tellute village, Mede Parish, Palaro sub-county, Gulu district.

Aswa regional Police spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema says the attack happened over the weekend, and that all the injured were taken to Gulu regional referral hospital for treatment.

Okema identified the suspects as Kennedy Oyet, Denis Opiyo, and Odong Odoki, all residents of Palaro sub-county.

Police say two of the suspects were arrested by residents on Sunday evening and they are currently being detained by the Police.

The suspects and victims, Okema said, are related.

Pangas and arrows were recovered at the scene of the crime.


According to Police, crimes related to land disputes in Northern Uganda have been on the rise ever since people settled back from IDP Camps in 2007.
