Police In Jinja are hunting down two security guards who on Wednesday night put KCB Bank officials at gunpoint with the motive of robbing the financial institution, Chimp Corps report.
No one was hurt in the attempted robbery, according to preliminary information.
The incident occurred at around 8:00pm at the bank’s Branch among main street Jinja.
“It’s alleged that two private security guards attached to pinnacle security in company of an unidentified person stormed the bank and put three bank staff at gun point demanding for money,” said police Spokesperson Fred Enanga.
“However, the manager who had stepped out briefly returned and found his staff at gun point, hence rushed to police that responded immediately,” he added.
The suspects are said to have tried to intercept the manager from running out of the bank but failed and only grabbed his phone.
Enanga said on suspicion that the manager could have notified police the trio fled the scene abandoning one gun.
