Grief as 13-year-old Aga Khan Student Dies on School Trip to Greece

The Aga Khan School in Kampala is reeling in shock after one of its students died during a school trip to Athens, Greece.

Michelle Ingrid Kanagwa, 13, passed away late last week.

Family members and friends who talked to ChimpReports on Tuesday said they were yet to get a briefing on the cause of the death.

But it is widely held Michelle succumbed to a cardiac arrest.

Efforts to reach Michelle’s father, Dr James R Kanagwa – Ecobank Country representative for Ethiopia, were futile as he could not immediately respond to our messages for comment.

But it’s understood Michelle had a medical condition which was not made aware to the school before the trip.

“Parents of kids at the school are sending condolences to the deceased’s family. It’s a trying moment for all of us,” said a stakeholder who preferred anonymity so as to speak freely.

“It’s a tragedy,” the source added.
