A 13-year-old boy has died on spot following a grenade explosion in Bukwo district.
It’s reported that Chemos Kenan, a pupil of Kamet Primary School, discovered the explosive device in the bush where he had gone to collect firewood in Musoni village, Kamet Sub-county.
According to Sipi region police spokesperson Rogers Taitika, the deceased started playing with the grenade which he thought was a mere metallic object.
“We regret the death of a young boy. The grenade blasted him on the stomach and died on spot, “said Mr Taitika.
“When he picked the grenade, he started hitting it with a mental thus blasting and killed him instantly at its Father’s home,” said Mr Taitika.
Police said they have launched investigations into the matter to establish what exactly happened.
“We have the fragments of the blast which we are to forward to the Ballistics as of now we appeal to the public in Sipi region to report any suspicious thing that they come across to the security for quick response,” he said.
The body was taken to Bukwo district hospital for post-mortem.
