Gov’t Borrows 10 Million Euros for Karamoja Infrastructure Project

The Cabinet on Monday approved the proposal to borrow up to 10 million Euros from Government of Italy to finance the Karamoja Infrastructure Development Project phase II under the Health Sector Development Plan (HSDP).

The pronouncement was made by Communications and Media Relations Manager of Uganda Media Center Dennis Katungi on Tuesday.

The project is designed for the construction of 68 staff houses for selected heath facilities in all districts of Karamoja.

“The purpose of the project is therefore to construct and equip new Health Center IIIs in the sub counties that are not yet covered and make them functional, upgrade some existing infrastructure (Health Center II, IV and regional referral hospitals),” said Katungi.

He also said that Cabinet approved the amendment of Regulation 40 of the SI 305-1 as amended by inserting sub regulation (4) with retrospective effect to provide for pension of 44 officers who were in the security Organizations as at 1st July 2017 but had clocked retirement age in the period between 2009 and 1st July 2017.
