The government of Uganda has awarded players and managers of the Uganda cranes football team with Shs3.5 billion following the team’s qualification in African cup of Nations.
Speaking to media today, the FUFA president Moses Magogo said that the government has showed its sustenance to the national team and this has been exhibited through endless financial and moral support towards the team.
He said immediately after Saturday’s victory over Cape Verde, one million dollar was disbursed to the team and beneficiaries have been paid.
Uganda qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after thrashing Cape Verde 1-0 in Kampala on Saturday.
On Monday evening however, President Yoweri Museveni met the Uganda Cranes team at State House Entebbe.
The team was headed by their captain, Dennis Onyango, and FUFA officials led by their president, Moses Magogo.
He congratulated them upon the victory over Cape Verde and qualifying for AFCON 2019.
Museveni also advised them to keep training, saying Africans are very strong naturally. “If you train well, you can dominate the sports world. The potential exists, what is critical is harnessing it through training.
