God has Always Protected Kampala – Afande Omala

Thousands of Christians on Wednesday (December 31)   trekked to Bat valley sports ground for the end of year over night prayers organized by Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of the House of Prayers Ministries.

By 9pm, help the queue to the entrance was past Teachers House along Bombo road but as the adage goes that when the going gets tough, drugs only the tough get going, side effects many decided to camp outside and in a bid to follow the proceedings.

“It was hard to get inside and I decided to pray from outside. With the presence of loud speakers and the projector screens I will be able to follow the proceedings,” said Dorah Namusisi .

In a special New Year prayer animated by Pastor Bujingo, he asked the Almighty  for wisdom, strength and courage to complete the targets in the New Year.

“This is time for all of us to write down our dreams and visions for the coming year and present them to the Almighty. We need to have a fruitful year and this we can only due if we ask for the mercy of God,”Bugingo noted.

“Vision night is a moment for total dedication by all Christians to present their plans with faith to the lord surely knowing they will achieve their goal”

According to the man of God, many Christians who have in the past presented their visions have always lived to testify how they have been achieved.

He is known for quelling heated riots in the city but this time round, visit it was a different case when Kampala Metropolitan Police Head of Operations, look ASP Sam Omala took to the podium to preach the goodness of the Lord on New Year’s Eve.


Afande Omala who co-preached with Pastor Bujingo at Bat valley playground urged Ugandan to seek God’s protection at all times.

According to Omala, his determined efforts in managing the numerous scuffles in the city have been with the help of God.

“I want to take this time and ask each of you to seek God’s protection. You may have the wisdom and favors but without Gods protection, you are deemed to stumble,” he said.

Clad in his full police attire and with four escorts, Omala walked through the crowded venue to find his way to the podium where he joined pastor Bujingo in a heated last minute prayer to make it to 2015.

The duo, who took turns on the microphone, prayed for over 2 hours while evoking the presence of the Holy Spirit and pleading with the Lord to have mercy and grant the prayers of all Ugandans ahead of 2015.

Omala thanked Ugandans for turning up in huge numbers adding that he almost failed to get to the stage as the number of people both inside and outside the venue was enormous compared to the past years.

“This is a clear indication that we are looking towards a peaceful Uganda in 2015. A nation with citizen bound by good religious values,’ Omala said.

With the police moving towards community policing, Omala’s gesture could be a positive image builder for the police force in the country.
