Elegance and Glamour was the order of the day at the Miss Tourism grand finale that took place Saturday evening at the Kampala Serena hotel.
Guests arrived clad in gorgeous designer gowns, and walked the red carpet to witness the crowning of Miss Tourism 2017/18.
Captivated by one of the guest’s attire, ChimpReports asked her about where she could have picked it from.
“My sister Kiconco Dorcus who is a designer made for me this dress specifically for this event and I feel fabulous. She makes African wear,” said a one Jackie who wore a yellow dress gown with kitenge print.
The event that was under the theme ‘Let The Pearl Shine’ was attended by different dignitaries that included the guest of honor, Ephraim Kamuntu, the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Miss Global Ambassador International, renowned designers and former Tourism beauty queens.
The excited Enid Mirembe, former Miss Tourism 2015, speaking about the event, said, “I am always blessed to be here for these pageants, today is special because we are honoring the legacy of the late Hon. Maria Mutagamba.”
Mirembe added: “My dress was designed by Mercy Mika fashion store; I bought the shoes and did my own makeup.”
Designer Kalyn Atwooki made magnificent gowns for the Tourism Ambassador as she showcased her designs that added more glamour to the event.
“I am humbled to be among the designers showcasing on such a big event, it is really a blessing,” Atwooki said.
The winners were Anita Ayebare from Ankole as Second Runner-up, Gertrude Amuge from Teso Region as First Runner-up and finally the overall winner who was crowned Miss Tourism, Challa Elma Kapel from Karamoja.
