Uganda started pressing their hosts from the first whistle with the first attempt on goal presenting in the second minute but Iguma’s final product flew away after some good build up.

Wadada was back with another try two minutes later with a long run down his right flank and into the box but Braimah was called into action intercepting the short pass intended for Oloya.

The right back made another chance in the 19th minute which went begging across the six yard. Wadada was later booked for a poor challenge on Frank Achiempong just minutes after.

Jjuuko was also booked for a high open boot towards Ayew and handling the ball.

Ghana’s chances.
The Black stars shook the Cranes back line with two half chances in the 33rd and 38th minute. The former saw Harrison Afful taking advantage of a miscommunication in the Cranes left wing and paced to the corner before releasing a long cross which Ayew blasted wide on his first touch. Onyango was also forced to make a goal mouth save from Achiiempong’s low shot.

Ayew, Atsu and Gyan also had their attempts drift wide during the last ten minutes.

Grant was forced to make a late change to his squad after Jonathan Mensah picked an injury during warm up bringing in Leicester City’s Daniel Amartey.
