Gen Muhwezi, Amb Mugume Kids Attacked by Thugs

A daughter of Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi and son of former Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary, buy James Mugume have been injured in an attack.
Sandra Muhwezi and Nikko Mugume were attacked by armed thugs carrying iron bars as they were driving to a night club in Mbarara Town.
Amb. Mugume confirmed the attack adding that the victims sustained severe injuries and they have been admitted to hospital.
“They sustained severe injuries, but their lives are out of danger,” said Amb. Mugume in an exclusive interview with ChimpReports on Easter Sunday night.
After the attack, the unidentified thugs fled the scene.
Police and sister security agencies are still establishing the motive of the attack.
“They smashed the car in which they (victims) were traveling along the Golf Course road above Mbarara University of Science and Technology,” said Amb Mugume.
The incident, which exposed the growing insecurity in the country, occurred at around midnight.
Mugume told us that both Sandra and Nikko are cousins.
“They are young people, in fact cousins, who were enjoying their Easter. They were moving from one club to the other,” he added.
Mugume said after the attack the youthful victims managed to proceed to Agip Motel which is owned by Muhwezi before being taken to Mayanja Memorial Hospital in Mbarara.
Mugume retired from the Foreign Affairs Ministry a couple of months ago after serving over three decades.
He has for long been a close friend of the Muhwezi family.
ChimpReports was unable to obtain a comment from police on this incident.
By Sunday night, the affected families had arranged for the victims’ admission at IHK Hospital in Kampala.
Amb Mugume said they had “reported the matter to police which has done its report.”
He said investigations were underway to establish the identities of the attackers.
Cases of thugs attacking people in Mbarara and Masaka have been on the rise in recent months, with dozens been hacked.
