Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of Special Operations, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has vowed to avenge the assassination of former AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Kaweesi, a clandestine operator and mobilizer, was gunned down in March, 2017.
The militants sprayed Kaweesi’s official car with a hail of bullets, killing the top police officer, his guard and driver, before taking off on a motorcycle.
Some of the suspected killers were arrested and charged before courts of law.
However, Kaweesi’s killing has never been resolved.
Gen Muhoozi today said, “It is three years since some criminals took your life my brother,” adding, “We shall settle accounts with them no matter how long it takes!”
Gen Muhoozi’s statement fueled the widely held belief that Kaweesi’s killers remain at large.
His remarks posted on Twitter also gave the impression that the assassins were powerful and that countering them requires more investigative effort and patience.
“UPDF and UPF never forget those who attack us!” said Muhoozi, emphasizing, “Rest in Peace my brother.”
At the time of his death, Kaweesi was a close friend of Gen Muhoozi especially during the former’s reign as commander of police operations.
