The Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi has heaped praises on Brig Gen Richard Otto, saying he is one of the armed forces’ finest commanders.
“He is one of those unsung heroes because of his tremendous contribution to peace and security in Northern Uganda,” said Gen Muhoozi on Saturday.
The army chief spoke at Brig Otto’s wedding celebrations graced by thousands of people at Kitgum Public Primary School Playground.
Brig Otto, the Commander of 3rd Division Infantry Division based in Moroto had just tied a knot with Ms Deckline Oyo Oguti at Christ the King Parish-Kitgum.
Gen Muhoozi commended Otto for being dependable, calm, disciplined and above all professional at work.
“Such are some of the attributes that have made him a living example to his peers and helped him to achieve success in all missions assigned to him,” said Gen Muhoozi.
Brig Otto was the last Commander of the AU Joint Task Force against the LRA based in Central African Republic.
Meanwhile, Gen Muhoozi revealed UPDF is set to celebrate its 38th anniversary in Kitgum District on February 6, 2018.
Speaking earlier at the Church, Rt Hon Justine Kasule Lumumba the NRM Secretary General saluted the people of Acholi sub-Region for embracing peace and emphasized it was one of the prerequisites to achieve socio-economic transformation.
She also applauded UPDF for its tremendous sacrifice while providing stability to Uganda and implored all Ugandans to ensure that it is sustained.
The occasion was attended by Hon Eng Hillary Onek, the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Members of Parliament from Acholi and Karamoja Sub regions as well as the UPDF fraternity among others.
