Gen Gutti Commences Fourth Term as Army Court Chair

Lt Gen Andrew Gutti has today taken oath for the fourth term as the chairman for Makindye General Court Martial.

The swearing in ceremony, which preceded today’s session, was presided over by the Judge Advocate of this court Col Richard Tukacungura, who was the last to take oath under the guidance of the newly sworn in chairman.

Lt Gen Gutti swore to administer justice basing on the constitution of Uganda, the UPDF Act and other applicable laws without fear or favour.

Two suspects were brought in the dock to witness the ceremony, and thereafter, all the suspects with scheduled cases were brought in and given chance to look at all the members on the panel to identify whether they have any objection against them.

The other members sworn in include chairman are Maj Gen Joseph Arocha, Lt Col Medard Kabagambe, Lt Col Lydia Nandundu , Captain Winfred Karugwara , Lt Hellen Malema, Lt Faridah Amooti and Warrant officer 1 Chrysostom Kisembo John

The Prosecutors include Lt Col Raphael Mugisha and Captain Ambrose Baguma, while Major Kamanda Silas Mutungi is the defense counsel and Major John Bizimana is the Secretary (Registrar)

This term of office will expire on 21st May 2020

Lt Gen Gutti assumed his first term of office at General court martial in 2016 .
